Arsham Studio - Sand Circle
Some artists cannot be confined to a single medium. They mix formats, play with materials. They innovate. Daniel Arsham is one such artist. He has built his career on breaking down the boundaries between sculpture, architecture, performance and fashion.
Filled with tiny shards of glass, this sculpture features two suspended planets for the mineral to flow between. Unique patterns result each time the creation is flipped, as the different weights yield varying streams in the suspending liquid. Every moment that is recorded by this mythic sand-timer is incrementally varied. Expertly crafter at Arsham Studio, this delicate piece is a meditation on temporality and ephemerality.
